Lionsgate names Michael Viane to lead global theatrical distribution, replacing Shaun Barber at Paramount.

Lionsgate has hired Michael Viane, a 30-year industry veteran, as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Theatrical Distribution, replacing Shaun Barber, who moved to Paramount as Head of Theatrical Distribution. Viane, who previously led global revenue at Comscore and held top roles at Warner Bros. and STX, will help Lionsgate boost its theatrical strategy after two years of under 3% domestic market share. The studio’s upcoming releases include "Now You See Me 3," "The Housemaid," and major 2026 films like "Michael" and "Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping," along with Mel Gibson’s two-part "The Resurrection of the Christ" in 2027.
