Kaukauna police apologize and change procedures after an officer abandoned a found cat in a field.

The Kaukauna Police Department has updated its animal handling procedures after an officer failed to deliver a found cat, Walter, to a shelter, instead leaving him in a field. The department apologized, confirmed an internal investigation, and took corrective action against the officer. Going forward, all domesticated animals taken into police custody will be directly transported to the Fox Valley Humane Society to prevent future mishaps and restore community trust.
