The Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) returned a record €17 million to the Irish state in 2024, including €5 million from selling 20 seized properties linked to crime, primarily drug trafficking.
This marked the highest annual recovery to date, with the bureau also appointing receivers to block rental income and selling its first foreign property.
The CAB conducted 46 coordinated operations and opened 21 new cases amid rising illicit drug activity.
