Half Yours, a horse linked to Australia’s meat industry through its breeder and owner, won the 2025 Melbourne Cup at Flemington, ridden by jockey Jamie Melham, who became the first woman to achieve the Caulfield-Melbourne Cup double. The horse, bred by late meat processor Colin McKenna and owned by Darren Thomas of Thomas Foods International, triumphed on a soft track despite rain threats, with Goodie Two Shoes and Middle Earth finishing second and third. Mark Zahra had a strong carnival with six wins and three places, while jockey James McDonald pledged his prize money to support Tom Prebble, son of injured jockey Brett Prebble.
