Daniel Hyden convicted of murder in 2024 NYC July 4th crash that killed four and injured seven.
Daniel Hyden, 46, of Monmouth, New Jersey, was convicted of murder in the 2024 July 4th crash at Corlears Hook Park in Manhattan, where his pickup truck jumped a curb, tore through a fence, and struck a barbecue crowd, killing four—Ana Morel, 43; Emily Ruiz, 30; Lucille Pinkney, 59; and Herman Pinkney, 38—and injuring seven.
Prosecutors said Hyden was drunk, speeding, and failed to brake before impact, then attempted to reverse the vehicle before bystanders seized the keys.
He was also convicted of assault and aggravated vehicular homicide.
Though Hyden’s defense cited a foot injury, the jury rejected that claim.
The verdict followed a trial where victims’ families, survivors, and witnesses testified.
The incident, occurring less than an hour after Hyden was denied entry to a party boat and had a brief altercation with security, drew national attention.
