BJP seeks new probe into 1975 murder of Bihar railway minister, citing suppressed evidence and political interference.

More than 50 years after the 1975 assassination of former Railway Minister Lalit Narayan Mishra in Bihar, BJP leader Ashwini Kumar Choubey has petitioned the Delhi High Court for a court-monitored re-investigation, alleging the original CBI probe was compromised by political interference and suppressed evidence. He cites reports from the Bihar CID, Justice V.M. Tarkunde’s commission, and former DIG S.B. Sahai, claiming early confessions were ignored and the case was wrongly redirected to implicate Ananda Marga members while shielding powerful figures. A 1975 Lok Sabha debate and a letter from Mishra’s grandson to PM Modi and Home Minister Shah support the plea, which seeks a fresh, impartial probe. The case is set for hearing in November 2025.
