Two capybara pups were born at New Jersey’s Cape May County Zoo in October 2025.
The Cape May County Zoo in New Jersey welcomed two healthy capybara pups on October 26, 2025, born to mother Buttercup, with another birth expected soon from female Marigold.
The twins, sired by Goomba, are part of a herd of five adult capybaras and are occasionally visible from a nearby bridge but are often kept away from visitors for rest and privacy.
Capybaras, the world’s largest rodents, are herbivores known for swimming abilities, webbed feet, and coprophagy to aid digestion.
The zoo remains open year-round with seasonal hours.
