Sikkim has launched a "Traditional Wear Work Day" every Thursday for government employees, including those in public sector units and banks, to promote cultural pride and awareness.
The initiative encourages staff to wear traditional attire reflecting the state’s diverse heritage.
In a separate development, researchers confirmed the first sighting of the Black-spot Royal butterfly (Tajuria luculentus) in Sikkim during a survey in North Sikkim, expanding its known range to include the state.
The finding, published in Bionotes in March-June 2025, was led by Sikkim-based scientists.
