The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration opens in London in May 2026, showcasing global illustration art and Blake’s personal archive.
The Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration, named after renowned cartoonist Sir Quentin Blake, will open in May 2026 in Clerkenwell, London, at a historic 18th-century waterworks site.
The center, stemming from Blake’s 2002 charity, will feature rotating exhibitions, a free library, learning spaces, gardens, a café, and a shop, celebrating illustration as a global art form.
Its inaugural exhibition, “Murugiah: Ever Feel Like…,” will highlight illustrator Murugiah’s work blending Hollywood, anime, and pop-punk influences.
Funded by £12.5 million, including £3.75 million from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and contributions from local and private sources, the project will also display works from Blake’s personal archive and host additional exhibitions in 2026.
