Pakistan’s PM seeks PPP support for a constitutional overhaul to strengthen courts and centralize power.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with PPP leaders to secure support for the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, which aims to establish a Federal Constitutional Court, restore executive magistrates, allow judicial transfers, remove provincial share protections in the NFC Award, return education and population planning powers to the federal government, and resolve ECP appointment disputes.
The PPP’s Central Executive Committee will decide the party’s stance after President Asif Ali Zardari returns from Doha on November 6.
The amendment follows the controversial 26th Amendment and seeks to address ongoing governance and judicial challenges.
