A North Carolina inmate died in custody; a Florida jail saw two deaths in three days, both under investigation.
A 51-year-old woman, Sandi Hill, died at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, after being found unresponsive on November 1, 2025.
She was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead early on November 2.
Hill had been in custody since May 23 on a robbery charge.
The Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the State Bureau of Investigation are investigating her death, with no cause yet released.
Separately, a female inmate died at the Columbia County Jail in Florida on November 3, marking the second death there in three days.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating both incidents, with no evidence of foul play reported so far.
