Melissa Stokes named new host of TVNZ’s 6pm news, replacing Simon Dallow in November 2025.
TVNZ has named Melissa Stokes as the new weekday presenter of its 6pm news bulletin, succeeding Simon Dallow, who will step down on November 28 after nearly 20 years in the role.
Stokes, who has anchored the weekend edition since 2019, began her TVNZ career in 2001 and has served as Europe correspondent, covering major international events.
TVNZ CEO Jodi O’Donnell called Stokes a natural successor, citing her experience and strong on-air presence.
Dallow, a former barrister who joined TVNZ in 1993, has hosted the 6pm bulletin since 2006 and other programs like Agenda and Q+A.
His departure marks the end of a significant era for the network’s flagship news program.
