The International Road Federation has commended India’s rollout of QR codes on major road projects, calling it a transformative step toward transparency and accountability in infrastructure.
The initiative, led by Minister Nitin Gadkari, allows public access to real-time project data including contractors, budgets, timelines, and maintenance details.
QR codes, affixed to highways and signboards, aim to improve quality control, ensure contractor accountability for up to 10 years, and enhance travel safety with emergency helplines.
The move supports digital governance and could generate ₹35,000–40,000 crore in asset monetization by 2026.
