India Post and EPFO now offer free at-home digital life certificates for pensioners using biometric verification.
India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has partnered with EPFO to provide free doorstep Digital Life Certificate services for pensioners under the Employees’ Pension Scheme, 1995.
Using IPPB’s network of over 1.65 lakh post offices and 3 lakh+ postal staff equipped with biometric devices, authorized personnel will visit pensioners’ homes to verify identity via Aadhaar-based face and fingerprint authentication.
The service, fully funded by EPFO, eliminates the need for in-person visits, improving access for elderly and mobility-challenged individuals.
After successful verification, pensioners receive an SMS confirmation and can access their digital certificate online the next day.
The initiative supports national digital and inclusive governance goals, enhancing efficiency and dignity in public service delivery.
