FEMA approves Oregon’s 2025–30 natural hazards plan to reduce risks from wildfires, earthquakes, floods, drought, and landslides.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved Oregon’s 2025–30 Natural Hazards Mitigation Plan, developed over 20 months with input from 348 individuals across government, tribes, nonprofits, academia, and the public.
The plan aims to reduce long-term risks from wildfires, earthquakes, floods, drought, and landslides through updated risk assessments, focus on vulnerable communities, and alignment with local efforts.
It ensures continued eligibility for FEMA hazard mitigation funding for state, local, tribal, and private entities.
Next steps include supporting local plan updates, pursuing project funding, monitoring risks, expanding outreach, and tracking progress.
The plan is part of Oregon’s Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and is available on the Oregon OEM website.
