Erin Patterson, convicted in 2024 of murdering three family members and attempting to kill a fourth by poisoning them with death cap mushrooms in a 2023 beef Wellington meal in Leongatha, Victoria, has been granted permission to appeal her guilty verdicts.
The Court of Appeal allowed the appeal despite the original 28-day window expiring, citing a procedural rule that extended the deadline to November 3, 2025.
Patterson, who pleaded not guilty, was sentenced to life in prison with a 33-year non-parole period, making her eligible for parole in 2056 at age 82.
The prosecution has also appealed, arguing the sentence is too lenient and that the judge erred in considering future prison conditions.
The grounds for Patterson’s appeal remain undisclosed.
