Eni and Petronas launch joint venture to develop oil and gas in Indonesia and Malaysia, targeting 3 billion barrels in reserves and 500,000 boe/d by 2026.
Eni and Malaysia’s Petronas have formed a joint venture, NewCo, combining their upstream oil and gas assets in Indonesia and Malaysia, with a binding agreement signed at ADIPEC.
The new entity will manage 19 assets, invest over $15 billion in the next five years, and aim to develop 3 billion barrels of discovered reserves while exploring 10 billion barrels more.
Initial production will be over 300,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, targeting growth to over 500,000 boe/d.
The venture, part of Eni’s satellite strategy, is expected to close in 2026 pending approvals.
