Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Daiyan Henley played in his team’s game just two days after his brother Jabari Henley was fatally shot in South Los Angeles.
Despite the personal tragedy, Henley recorded seven tackles and a sack in the Chargers’ win over the Tennessee Titans, saying football had become his emotional anchor.
Jabari Henley, 34, was the son of Eugene “Big U” Henley, a music executive and nonprofit founder indicted on 43 counts including extortion and human trafficking, allegations he denies.
Authorities have not identified suspects in Jabari’s killing, though gang unit sources suggest a younger crew may be involved amid the elder Henley’s legal troubles.
The elder Henley is scheduled for a federal court status conference.
