Toronto Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman took full blame for Game 7 of the 2025 World Series loss, admitting he cost the team a championship by surrendering a game-tying home run to Miguel Rojas in the ninth inning.
With the Blue Jays leading 4-3, Hoffman struck out the first batter but allowed the 387-foot homer on a full-count pitch, shifting momentum.
Despite retiring the next two batters, Toronto couldn’t score in the bottom of the ninth, and the Dodgers won 5-4 in the 11th on another go-ahead home run.
Hoffman, who had a strong postseason, expressed deep regret, calling the outcome “sh*tty” and saying he “cost everybody a ring.” The loss ended Toronto’s bid for its first title since 1993.
