Bangladesh’s interim government is reviewing a 2017 power agreement with India’s Adani Power, citing potential corruption and governance failures in energy contracts under the previous administration. The review, led by a committee headed by retired judge Moinul Islam Chowdhury, found widespread irregularities, including improper deal structuring and collusion, and may lead to cancellation if misconduct is proven. Adani Power has initiated international arbitration over unpaid bills, though Bangladesh says negotiations continue and arbitration is not yet final. Outstanding dues have dropped significantly, and power supply remains ongoing. The committee’s final report is due in January 2026.
