Samuel Nelson III, a Jacksonville teen, named a 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar in the arts.
Samuel Issac Nelson III, a Douglas Anderson School of the Arts graduate in Jacksonville, has been named a 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar, one of 161 national honorees and one of 20 in the arts.
He is the only student from Jacksonville and one of three Florida recipients in the arts category.
Nelson excelled as a musical theatre student, served as class vice president, and earned acclaim for performances in “Hadestown” and “Next to Normal.” His achievements were supported by the Developing Artists Foundation, which provides training for young artists in Jacksonville.
The recognition highlights his academic, leadership, and artistic accomplishments.
