RWJ Barnabas Health launched a new nursing school in Oceanport to combat New Jersey’s looming nurse shortage.
RWJ Barnabas Health has opened a new nursing school in Oceanport, Monmouth County, launching its first class of 53 students on September 9, 2025, to help address New Jersey’s projected shortage of 11,000 to 24,000 registered nurses in the next decade.
The Oceanport campus, equipped with modern labs and technology, serves as a second location alongside the existing school in Elizabeth, now totaling 724 nursing students.
The expansion aims to increase access to nursing education, particularly for career changers, amid rising healthcare demands and an aging workforce.
