Prime Minister Modi launches a Rs 1 lakh crore R&D fund to boost innovation in key tech areas.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch a Rs 1 lakh crore Research, Development, and Innovation (RDI) Scheme Fund on November 3, 2025, during the inaugural Emerging Science and Technology Innovation Conclave (ESTIC) in New Delhi. The six-year initiative, with Rs 20,000 crore allocated for 2025-26, will support India’s private-sector-driven R&D through long-term low or zero-interest loans, equity investments, and fund-of-funds contributions. The three-day event, drawing over 3,000 participants including scientists, industry leaders, and Nobel laureates, will focus on 11 key areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum science, semiconductors, clean energy, and biomanufacturing, featuring talks, panels, and technology showcases to foster innovation and collaboration.
