Former Andhra Pradesh minister Jogi Ramesh was arrested on November 2, 2025, in connection with a major illicit liquor racket.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) detained him and his aide at his home in Ibrahimpatnam, citing CCTV footage of a pre-travel meeting with prime accused Addepalli Janardhan Rao.
Authorities allege Ramesh directed the illegal operation during his tenure, including a promise of ₹3 crore to fund a distillery in Africa.
The case, linked to production in Mulakalacheruvu and Ibrahimpatnam, emerged after Rao’s custodial statements and video evidence.
Ramesh denies involvement and has requested a CBI probe, claiming bias in the state investigation.
Both men are expected to appear before a magistrate.
