The first Sekhon IAF Marathon honored a top Indian Air Force hero, drawing hundreds in New Delhi and Gandhinagar.

The inaugural Sekhon IAF Marathon 2025 took place on November 2, 2025, in New Delhi and Gandhinagar, Gujarat, honoring Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon, the only IAF officer to receive the Param Vir Chakra. Organized by the Indian Air Force, the event featured 5K, 10K, and half-marathon races with over 800 participants across both cities. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh flagged off the New Delhi race, calling it a tribute to national heroism and announcing it would be annual. Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari linked the event to Prime Minister Modi’s Fit India campaign. Celebrities attended, and Netflix supported the initiative. In Gujarat, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor flagged off the Gandhinagar race, emphasizing national pride and military legacy. Around the same time, Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the 'Sardar@150 Unity March' in Ahmedabad to mark Sardar Patel’s 150th birth anniversary.
