Bangladesh's interim government will train 8,850 youth in defense skills starting Nov. 22, with support from India.
Bangladesh’s interim government, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, will launch a 15-day self-defense training program on November 22 for 8,850 young people aged 18 to 35, teaching judo, karate, taekwondo, and firearms.
Participants will receive food, housing, clothing, and a stipend.
Adviser Shojib Bhuyain announced the initiative, which aims to bolster national defense.
The program aligns with strengthened military cooperation between Bangladesh and India, including joint efforts in UN peacekeeping missions, and follows India’s handover of around 550 Bangladeshi nationals found illegally entering India.
