Stephen Bryant, death row inmate convicted of murdering Willard Tietjen in 2004, will be executed by firing squad on November 14.
Death row inmate Stephen Bryant, convicted of murdering Willard "TJ" Tietjen in 2004 and allegedly killing two others in the same month, has chosen execution by firing squad, a method used in only three U.S. cases since 1977, all in Utah.
Prosecutors say Bryant shot Tietjen in his home, burned his eyes with cigarettes, wrote messages in his blood, and answered Tietjen’s daughter’s final call with a strange voice.
Bryant’s defense cited childhood sexual abuse and drug use, including meth and bug-spray-laced joints.
His execution, scheduled for November 14, will be carried out by three volunteers at 15 feet.
Legal challenges are expected due to concerns over prolonged suffering in past firing squad executions, though officials say only a heart hit is required.
In 2025, 41 executions have occurred nationwide, with at least 18 more planned.
Stephen Bryant, condenado a muerte por el asesinato de Willard Tietjen en 2004, será ejecutado por un pelotón de fusilamiento el 14 de noviembre.
