Oregon seeks to revoke ex-commissioner’s release after she’s accused of fleeing with her son using a fake passport.
The Oregon Department of Justice has moved to revoke the conditional release of former Clackamas County Commissioner Melissa Fireside, who is accused of felony theft, forgery, and computer crimes, after learning she may have fled the U.S. with her nine-year-old son.
Authorities believe she used a fake Austrian passport and may have entered Mexico, though no U.S. border records show her crossing since 2022.
She faces charges related to allegedly stealing $30,000 from an elderly man in assisted care, including forging his and a state representative’s signatures.
Her trial is set for December 2, 2025, and state and federal agencies are working to locate her, with extradition possible but complicated if she is abroad.
The public is urged to contact the Oregon DOJ if they have information.
