On October 31, 2025, Xie Zongxu, a Miao youth from Guizhou Province, showcased traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage at the UN Human Rights Council Social Forum in Geneva, presenting a hand-embroidered artwork featuring the UN emblem, a panda, peace doves, dolphins, and Miao totems.
The piece was part of the Village T fashion initiative, launched in Kaili in July 2024, which blends Miao crafts like batik and silverwork with modern design.
The project has drawn over 15 billion social media views, hosted more than 900 events including 300 fashion shows, and created over 3,000 jobs across 50 villages.
It boosted local tourism, with the Kaili cultural park seeing a 136.83% increase in visitors in 2024 and a 40% rise in per capita income, demonstrating the economic and cultural impact of integrating heritage with innovation.
