Minnesota Supreme Court to review 2023 felony gun conviction based on circumstantial evidence.
The Minnesota Supreme Court will review the 2023 conviction of Kacey Kamara, a Rochester man sentenced to five years in prison for illegal firearm possession as a felon.
The case stems from a 2022 gunfight where Kamara was accused of firing at a vehicle driven by Larry Dion Jackson.
Though acquitted of assault and witness tampering charges, Kamara was convicted based on circumstantial evidence linking him to a firearm and ammunition found in a shared apartment.
The state’s highest court will determine if that evidence was sufficient to uphold the conviction.
Jackson, who faces related charges, remains pending.
