Lincoln, Ontario, added a veterans crosswalk with “Lest We Forget” near Beamsville’s cenotaph, funded partly by a firefighter-led donation.
The Town of Lincoln has installed a second veterans crosswalk in Beamsville near the cenotaph, featuring red and white stripes, a soldier silhouette, and “Lest We Forget” to honor military service ahead of Remembrance Day.
Located at William and King Streets, the $4,000 project was partly funded by a $1,000 donation from the Beamsville Firefighters Association, raised through scrap metal and electronics drives.
Officials and veterans say it serves as a daily tribute and educational symbol for residents and students from nearby Jacob Beam Public School.
This follows the 2024 installation of a similar crosswalk at the Fleming Centre, with plans to potentially expand the initiative to other intersections.
