Iowa opens LIHEAP applications for winter 2025–26, prioritizing seniors, disabled individuals, and those with disconnection notices.
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is now accepting applications in Iowa for the 2025–26 winter season, with priority access for those age 60 or older, disabled individuals, and households with disconnection notices.
Applications for all other income-eligible households open November 1 and will remain available until April 30, 2026, or until funds run out.
Eligibility is based on household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, with assistance covering part of heating costs.
Applicants must provide proof of income, identity, citizenship, and a recent energy bill.
The program is funded federally and administered by Iowa’s Department of Health and Human Services.
