India’s largest greenfield steel plant, a ₹1.5 lakh crore project by ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel in Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh, has received environmental clearance and 2,200 acres of land for an initial 8.2 million tonnes per year capacity, with plans to expand to 24 MTPA.

The project, set to begin construction in 2024 and launch with a foundation-laying ceremony in November 2025, will use low-emission technologies and a new slurry pipeline to transport iron ore, reducing pollution from truck transport.
