Hindustan Unilever has been issued a tax demand of ₹1,986.25 crore for FY 2020-21 by India’s tax authorities, citing disputes over related-party transaction valuations and depreciation claims.
The company, which owns brands like Dove and Surf Excel, said the notice won’t materially affect its finances or operations and plans to appeal.
This follows its report of a 3.8% net profit increase to ₹2,694 crore in Q2 FY2026, with revenue up 2.1% to ₹16,034 crore, despite flat volume growth due to temporary factors.
