DMACC names Dr. Liang Chee Wee interim president for 2026, following Rob Denson’s retirement.
Des Moines Area Community College has appointed Dr. Liang Chee Wee as interim president effective January 1, 2026, serving through June 30, 2026, following the retirement of President Rob Denson.
Dr. Wee, who previously led Northeast Iowa Community College and served as interim chancellor of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, was chosen nearly unanimously by the board.
He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration and other advanced degrees from the University of Arizona.
His appointment comes as DMACC continues its national search for a permanent president, delayed after two of three finalists withdrew.
Dr. Wee plans to relocate to the Des Moines area and will work with senior leadership on operations and representation during the upcoming legislative session.
