Delhi officials deny air quality data manipulation during Diwali, calling claims “misinformed.”
Delhi officials, including Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, have rejected allegations by the Aam Aadmi Party that air quality data was manipulated during Diwali, asserting that the city’s 40 monitoring stations are tamper-proof and automated.
They stated that AQI data is jointly monitored by multiple agencies and published simultaneously, calling claims of data fudging “misinformed” and “irresponsible.” The government highlighted ongoing pollution control efforts, including targeted interventions at 13 hotspots, and attributed current AQI levels to coordinated enforcement and public participation.
