Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has urged strengthening cooperatives to promote an inclusive, equitable, and self-reliant Bangladesh, marking the 54th National Co-operative Day on November 1, 2025.
In a message released October 31, he highlighted cooperatives' role in addressing social challenges, empowering marginalized communities, and driving economic growth through sectors like agriculture, fisheries, and cottage industries.
Yunus emphasized their importance beyond finance, calling them vital for social engagement and national development.
He praised the interim government’s efforts to modernize the sector and endorsed the year’s theme—“Cooperatives build the nation through equality and equity”—as a foundation for progress.
The message comes amid preparations for upcoming national elections.
