Tripura plans to upgrade its veterinary college to a national model, expanding enrollment and modernizing facilities with AI and 5G.

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced plans to upgrade the state’s College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry into a national model institution, highlighting Tripura’s second-place ranking in Northeast milk production and self-sufficiency in meat with the region’s highest per capita egg availability. He emphasized expanding student intake to 66 seats, modernizing infrastructure to match medical colleges, and integrating AI and 5G into veterinary education. The state is advancing through initiatives like the Green Animal Food Development Project and the Chief Minister’s Animal Resources Scheme, while a new SHIJA Super Specialty Hospital is set to break ground on November 5.
