South Africa's average net salaries rose to R21,428 in September 2025, marking the sixth straight month of growth, up 0.3% from August and 2.3% from a year earlier, according to the PayInc Net Salary Index.
Year-to-date, salaries increased 4.3%, supported by 175,000 additional jobs.
Despite this labor market improvement, unemployment remains high at 33%.
Real net salaries rose 0.2% month-on-month to R20,806, though they remain below year-ago levels.
