flag Police in Northern Ireland seek info 24 years after Arthur Berryman’s 2001 stabbing death in east Belfast.

Northern Ireland police have launched a fresh appeal 24 years after the brutal 2001 murder of Arthur Berryman, a 46-year-old man stabbed to death in his east Belfast home. Authorities say a masked man in a dark hooded jacket forced entry, pushed Berryman’s wife down, and stabbed him multiple times in the living room before fleeing on foot. The attack, described as “savage and sustained,” is not believed to be sectarian. Two people were initially charged but the cases were dropped, and no one has been convicted. Detective Inspector Ailish McCrissican urged anyone with information—especially those who haven’t spoken before—to come forward, noting that circumstances may have changed. The Legacy Investigation Branch is re-interviewing witnesses and seeking new leads. The family continues to endure the emotional toll. Contact: 101, 028 9258 9258, or L&DSec@psni.police.uk.
