Panthers QB Andy Dalton played through a broken thumb in a loss to the Bills; Bryce Young is expected to return Sunday.

Panthers quarterback Andy Dalton broke his right thumb during a 40-9 loss to the Bills but played through the injury, completing 16 of 24 passes for 175 yards with one interception and two fumbles. The 38-year-old, filling in for injured starter Bryce Young, said he didn’t immediately realize the severity. Young practiced fully and is expected to return for Sunday’s game against Green Bay. Dalton was limited in practice Thursday and could be available if needed. Wide receiver Xavier Legette missed practice due to illness, and offensive lineman Cade Mays and linebacker Princely Umanmielen remain out with ankle and knee injuries.
