A 30-year-old man was arrested without incident Friday morning after barricading himself inside a home in Waratah West, New South Wales, following a welfare concern that triggered a seven-hour police siege.
Officers, including the Tactical Operations Group, responded around 11:30 p.m. on October 30 to a residence on Angus Avenue, where the man refused entry and raised initial concerns about a firearm, though police have not confirmed weapons were present.
Nearby streets were closed, but authorities confirmed no ongoing public threat.
The man was taken to a Newcastle police station, and a crime scene has been established as investigations continue.
