L&T and GA-ASI will build 87 Indian-made MALE drones for the Indian military under a $2.4B deal.
Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has partnered with U.S. firm General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) to manufacture Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) drones in India for the Ministry of Defence’s planned procurement of 87 unmanned aircraft.
L&T will lead the bid, with GA-ASI providing proven MQ-series drone technology used globally in surveillance and strike missions.
The collaboration supports India’s defense self-reliance, strengthens Indo-U.S. defense ties, and advances domestic aerospace manufacturing under the Make in India initiative.
The project, part of a tri-service effort valued at around Rs 20,000 crore, is expected to be reviewed by the Defence Ministry soon.
