In October 2025, King Charles III began the formal process to strip Prince Andrew of his titles, including Duke of York, and his royal styles, following ongoing scrutiny over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein. Though Andrew denies the allegations, Buckingham Palace cited "serious lapses of judgment" and concerns for family well-being. He has surrendered his lease on Royal Lodge and will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, a name used by royal descendants without highness titles. The move, finalized through royal warrants without parliamentary action, ends his official royal status. He will relocate to a private residence on the Sandringham estate, funded by the king.
