Japan grants $2.6M to rebuild Nepal’s flood-damaged Sindhuli Road.
Japan has approved a 2.8 billion yen grant, about 2.6 billion Nepalese rupees, for the emergency rehabilitation of the Sindhuli Road in Nepal, damaged by September 2024 floods.
The 160-kilometer road, crucial for connecting Kathmandu to eastern and mid-Terai regions, lost over 10 kilometers to flooding, disrupting transportation and trade.
The agreement was signed in Kathmandu on October 30, 2025, by Japan’s ambassador and Nepal’s finance secretary, with senior officials present.
The project supports Nepal’s recovery and sustainable development, reflecting Japan’s continued infrastructure partnership.
