India nears deal to buy 100+ Meteor missiles for Rafale jets, boosting air power after successful 2025 combat use.
India is advancing plans to purchase hundreds of Meteor air-to-air missiles from MBDA, valued at around Rs 1,500 crore, for its Rafale fighter jets, with the deal nearing approval by the Defense Ministry.
The long-range missiles, capable of engaging targets up to 200 kilometers away, are already operational on India’s Rafale fleet and will also equip upcoming naval variants.
This move follows India’s successful use of long-range weapons during May 2025’s Operation Sindoor, which prompted a swift ceasefire after Pakistani PL-15 missiles failed to intercept Indian aircraft.
India is also developing around 700 indigenous Astra Mark 2 missiles for Su-30 and LCA fighters as part of a broader modernization effort to strengthen aerial dominance.
India está cerca de un acuerdo para comprar más de 100 misiles Meteor para aviones Rafale, aumentando el poder aéreo después del exitoso uso de combate en 2025.
