India marks progress on 14 indigenously built patrol boats and 6 air-cushion vehicles to boost coastal security and defense self-reliance.
On October 30, 2025, the Indian Coast Guard celebrated key construction milestones for 14 indigenously built Fast Patrol Vessels and six Air Cushion Vehicles, with ceremonies held in Mumbai and Goa.
The events included keel laying for the second FPV, plate cutting for the fifth FPV, and girder laying for two ACVs.
The FPVs, designed for coastal security and search and rescue, feature over 60% indigenous content, water-jet propulsion, and AI-driven maintenance systems.
The ACVs, based on a UK design, will operate across diverse terrains with more than 50% local components.
Both projects support India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat defense initiative and aim to enhance maritime capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region.
