India and France collaborate on laser anti-drone system for Indian Army.
Indian defense firm Axiscades has partnered with French company Cilas to develop a vehicle-mounted laser-based anti-drone system for the Indian Army.
The collaboration, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding, integrates Cilas’s Helma-P high-energy laser technology—previously used by NATO and the French Navy—into Axiscades’ indigenous command and control system.
The effort supports India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by enabling local manufacturing, integration, and maintenance of the system.
While deployment details remain unspecified, the project aims to enhance defense capabilities against drone threats through precise, cost-effective directed-energy solutions.
