FMC's biological nematicide Catulia, effective against root-knot nematodes, is pending approval for 2026 launch in Australia.
FMC has introduced Catulia, a biological nematicide targeting root-knot nematodes in Australian vegetable crops, after a decade of global research and five years of trials. The product, which uses patented bacterial strains to protect roots through natural mechanisms, has shown efficacy comparable to synthetic nematicides in field tests on crops like tomatoes, carrots, and sweet potatoes. FMC has applied to the APVMA for approval, with a potential 2026 launch if granted. The product is expected to support Integrated Pest Management by preserving beneficial soil organisms and possibly avoiding maximum residue limits. Grower events in Queensland and Western Australia will showcase trial results, with participation from global expert Dr. Sylwia Fudali-Alves. Catulia is not yet registered.
