A Florida teen was arrested for firing shots at a student during a high school bonfire, claiming he feared attack.
A 17-year-old from Ocala, Florida, Zachary Sarrach, was arrested on October 30, 2025, for allegedly firing multiple shots at a juvenile during a Forest High School homecoming bonfire on September 27.
No injuries were reported.
Witnesses couldn’t identify the shooter initially, but a social media video showed Sarrach with a firearm, leading investigators to identify him.
An Ocala police officer recognized him from a prior encounter, and his parents brought him in after seeing a public alert.
Sarrach admitted to having a gun and claiming he threatened to shoot if attacked.
He faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a minor, and was transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
